The Disaster Management Initiatives and Convergence Society (DMICS) is a leading civil society organization established in 2005. Originally known as the Disaster Management Infrastructure and Control Society, DMICS has evolved from its early role as a think tank into a dynamic, communitycentric organization focused on inclusive and sustainable disaster risk reduction (DRR).
Registered under the Societies Registration Act of the Government of Andhra Pradesh, DMICS functions as a pivotal platform bringing together decision-makers, practitioners, policymakers, researchers, and subject matter experts to foster dialogue, collaboration, and innovation in the field of Disaster Risk Reduction and Management.
The organization is dedicated to initiating and promoting innovative practices, ideas, and projects aimed at enhancing community resilience. DMICS organizes global events, knowledge exchanges, and conferences on disaster management, with a strong emphasis on sharing best practices, success stories, and indigenous knowledge systems that centre on safeguarding the well-being of communities from both natural and human-induced disasters.

DMICS organized a historical World Congress on Disaster Management (WCDM) from 21st to 24th October, 2008 in Hyderabad, India. The Global Congress was the first of its kind in the country. The objective of this congress was to network National and International Resources and expertise, bring them to a common platform for effective and efficient disaster management. Bharat Ratna, His Excellency Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, Former President of India, was the Chief Guest and delivered the inaugural address. Gen. N.C Vij, the then Hon’ble Vice Chairman NDMA, Ministry of Home Affairs, Govt. of India, delivered the key note address.

The Second World Congress on Disaster Management was held in Visakhapatnam from 19th -22nd November, 2015 and approximately thousand disaster management professionals, practitioners comprising of researchers, academicians, defense service personnel, Central & State Govt. authorities, NGOs, multilateral organizations, media, private sector and all other stakeholders working on Disaster Management participated.
