Founded in 2005 in response to the devastating Indian Ocean tsunami, the Disaster Management Initiatives and Convergence Society (DMICS) is committed to advancing the understanding of disaster risks and promoting mitigation strategies. Our mission focuses on enhancing preparedness, response, and recovery through interdisciplinary research, training, and collaborative engagement with a diverse range of stakeholders.

World Congress on Disaster Management (WCDM): A Premier Global Forum

The World Congress on Disaster Management (WCDM), DMICS's flagship event, is a globally renowned platform for knowledge exchange and collaboration. Jointly organized with various state governments, each edition is inaugurated by chief ministers and union cabinet ministers of India. Since its inaugural event in 2008, opened/chaired by former President Dr. A P J Abdul Kalam, WCDM has evolved into a leading forum for disaster management, attracting thousands of international delegates.
