Agenda :The Seminar was organized to understand the usage of technology and its deployment in the cause of humanity. The participants and presenters were largely legal and technical experts who drew upon the advantages in the form of boons that it has provided the mankind with. There were another set of experts who invoked critically the concerns of privacy & security caused due to the same. The aim was to understand how technology could be deployed in Disaster Risk Reduction without violating the integrity of those involved.

Agenda :The International seminar was organized to deliberate on the role that Media plays in the situations of disasters. This was done in the wake of concerns that has been marked with regard to the ethics and probity that Media should follow. A round table conference was also organized to understand the sensitive and conscientious role that media has to play in the context of its impact and significance it has on the lives of the people and how media could be made active partners in disseminating knowledge with regard to DRR.

Sessions and deliberations were organized by putting greater emphasis on capacity development of these sections in the form of women, youth, children, disabled and elderly. The 2WCDM emphasized on strengthening the inclusive approach as spelt out in Sendai Framework. The purpose of the congress was to enable evolution of better management techniques for disaster prevention, disaster mitigation, disaster preparedness and disaster relief in the wake of rehabilitation and reconstruction. The key outcome of the world Conference was the Visakhapatnam Declaration which emphasized on Community Resilience in Disaster Risk Reduction.

Agenda :With global participation and expertise on fire Hazards, the conference was organized to discuss 0best global practices that could be followed in such situations. The importance of safety drills and continuous institutional training was an recurring recommendation. The conference also showcased the techniques to save one self in situations of fire through the means of drills and exhibitions.

The Conference was organized to understand the impact of the Global Economic Crisis on the lives of the common man. It deliberated on the impact that it had on all stakeholders especially the farmers who were worst hit. The need for an inclusive growth model was a key decision that all arrived at.

The First WCDM was organized primarily to bring together national and international expertise in the form of Governmental organizations, Civil Society Organizations, specialists, experts, professional, academicians and scientific experts on a common platform for effective and efficient disaster management. It was one of the very first kind of endeavors that was undertaken in India to have global congruence on the concern of disaster management. The key outcome was Hyderabad Declaration that promised to make Disaster management a vital policy initiative in the realm of public policy.

The importance of life safety was discussed followed by showcasing techniques of safety in situation of Fire Disaster by the host Police and Home Guards personnel.

To understand how warning systems for better awareness of Tsunamis for Indian Ocean can be generated, by discussions with experts on Tsunamis.

This was organized with the aim of creating awareness about Tsunamis post 2004 that had created havoc in the Sri Lanka and the neighbor state of Tamil Nadu and the steps that need to be taken to make the region tsunami secure and also for setting up world class warning systems in Indian Oceans. Wide range of experts from scientists to oceanographers were involved in discussions.

This was one of the very first conferences that DMICs had organized on the theme of Disaster management in order to understand the varied and different perspectives on disaster management and its prevention involving the major stakeholders. Contextualizing Andhra Pradesh, being a highly disaster prone region, the conference was hosted with the larger aim of understanding the kind of disaster threats that State of Andhra suffered from and how could they be prevented. This was very first deliberation that DMICS had organized in the realm of Disaster Management.
